Retro-Tech Placement Programs

Are you ...

A Student struggling through school without a computer?

A Single Parent trying to help your children but cannot afford a computer?

Disabled and because of limited income unable to afford a computer?

If you can answer YES to any of the above questions, then Retro-Tech can help you. Call us today at (309)682-0675 for more information. Retro-Tech places computer systems in the homes of students, handicapped and low income individuals. There is an application fee which covers the cost of administering the program, but the computers themselves are free. Sometimes, when these placements are made in cooperation with other agencies, the agencies may pick up part of our costs. Placement computers are delivered Internet ready. Preloaded software includes a Windows Operating System, Open Office (Microsoft Office compatible), GriSoft AVG anti-virus, Ad-aware spyware remover and After Dark games. We partner with other Peoria area non-profits as a source for their programs.

Sorry, but we can only provide desktop computer systems as we don't have enough donated laptops to provide that option.

Kids Dreams

KidsDreams was a program run by Ron Boyd that provided computers to chronically ill and dying children. Within three days of the incorporation, Ron Boyd lost his fight against the disabling conditions that he contracted while serving in Vietnam. With the support of his family and Board President, Murrel Rhodes, Central Illinois Access, Inc. took over the program to provide computers to all children that are students. Central Illinois Access, Inc. expanded KidDreams to create successful and employable youth through the Young Masters Program. Retro-Tech is the successor to CIA and still tries to keep those dreams alive.

Young Masters

The Computer Masters program is open junior high and high school age students (13-18). We pair the student with a computer technician that will teach them every step in computer repair, upgrading and rebuilding. This is a year long Program that allows teens a chance to volunteer and learn practical work experience in the areas of Office Management, Retail Sales, Computer Repair, Recycling, and Warehouse work. All youth receive a FREE computer, Certificate of Completion, job skills, employment search skills, a letter of recommendation and interview training. These youth also get to participate in the KidsDreams special events. The final reward will be to build their own system, or upgrade your current system, at no cost.

Submit an Application

The online forms are currently under construction. They do have the information you will need to provide on your official application, but the online submission portion is still being tested.
