Retro Tech is Volunteers

While Retro-Tech is in operation full time, recycling old electronics, refurbishing them with new life and placing or selling them for reuse, there are no full time paid staff at Retro-Tech. From managers to techs to outlet personnel, our people are volunteers.

Retro-Tech Recycles

We encourage everyone to reuse and recycle. We practice it ourselves by accepting old electronics equipment, putting it through triage to decide what can be reused, and then recycling the unreusable and preparing the rest for new homes.

We recycle with Recycling for Illinois, downstate's largest recycler of electronics. We are one of their drop off points.

We reuse by distributing the tested and refurbished electronics to our program consumers and the general public through our retail outlet.

Retro-Tech Makes a Difference

We place computer systems throughout the State of Illinois with those who are in need whether they are low income, physically challenged or students needing a computer to be competitive in their studies.

History

Retro-Tech is Both New and Old

Retro-Tech opened it's doors at 625 W Main Street in June of 2008 when Recycling for Illinois closed it's Peoria facility and moved to Pekin. RFI had run a store and some of the same programs that are now run by Retro but had no facilities at their Pekin warehouse. Retr-Tech was then formed and opened as a new business to continue their community service programs in Peoria.

RFI's resales and community service programs were run under the dba name of Retro Tech Electroincs. We retained the Retro-Tech portion of the name to remind our service clientele that the old programs for the low-income, physically challenged and students, originally designed by Central Illinois Access, are still available to them. But we are Retro-Tech Inc. And although we are now run by new management, our link to the past, through the programs offered, remains.
